Curt Fonger
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Curt Fonger anchors for CBS12 weeknights. He also produces and anchors the CBS12 Webcast for cbs12.com and Digital Channel 12.2. Curt has spent 23 of his 35 years in television in South Florida.
Curt joined WPEC in 1989. The original anchor of the 5 PM newscast for CBS12, he was later the first anchor on The Fox29 Ten O'clock News (produced by CBS12 for WFLX) on which he appeared for 11 years. Curt has also reported and anchored for television stations WTVX in Fort Pierce, WKRG in Mobile, Alabama and WOOD in Grand Rapids, Michigan---where he was also News Director.
Curt was born in Grand Rapids and grew up in nearby Lowell. Curt graduated from the Lee Honors College of Western Michigan University (Magna Cum Laude) and was named a Sangren Scholar. The School of Communication at WMU inducted him into its prestigious Alumni Academy. Curt has won awards for news leadership and reporting. He has reported from Honduras, the People's Republic of China, Japan and South Korea.
A long-time Treasure Coast resident, Curt now resides in Palm Beach County with his wife. An avid golfer, Curt is proud that the Curt Fonger Invitational golf tournament has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Boys and Girls Club of St. Lucie County. He is a lifetime member of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation. Curt is involved with many organizations including the Suncoast Community High School Foundation, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum, Fair Housing Center of the Greater Palm Beaches, Pathways To Independence, Food For The Poor and Palm Beach Community Church.
