Emily Pantelides
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Award-winning journalist Emily Pantelides currently anchors CBS12 news at 7pm Monday through Friday and reports during the day. Emily also is a member of CBS 12's I-team. Being an investigative reporter is much more than a job for Emily, it's her passion.
She knew from a very early age what she wanted to do: "Hold the powerful accountable and be the first to tell you what's happening." Before coming to CBS 12, Emily worked at WJXT-TV in Jacksonville, Florida. For her work at WJXT The Society of Professional Journalists honored her with a first place award for general reporting and another award for feature reporting. Before Jacksonville, Emily was a weekend anchor/reporter at WJBF in Augusta, Ga. While there, she broke numerous stories about school safety concerns. Because of one of her stories, a special task force was created that arrested more than 100 students. For her work on that story, Emily was awarded a Georgia Association of Broadcasters Award and a spot in Georgia Trend magazine's "Who's Who in Georgia Broadcasting."
Before Augusta, Emily worked as a reporter at WSET in Virginia and an anchor/reporter for WUFT-TV in Gainesville. In that time she exposed the local school board's neglect in fixing dangerous fire code violations inside their classrooms. Based on Emily's report, Gainesville leaders changed fire code laws.
Emily speaks several languages and spent most of her childhood in Greece. During the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Emily was back home to report on the games. Emily says she's encountered countless cultures, but she still hasn't had enough.
Ask her what she likes most about her job and she'll tell you it's meeting new people every day, hearing their stories and uncovering great investigative reports! If you have a interesting story, Emily would love to hear it, send her an e-mail at epantelides@cbs12.com.
