Ric Blackwell
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Ric Blackwell anchors CBS 12 News Daybreak and CBS 12 News at Noon. He joined CBS 12 in 1993 as a Sports Anchor. He has also worked on air in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and Fort Myers, Florida. He has worked as a play by play announcer and a host of sports shows, telethons and other programs. Ric has won awards for his reporting and he received an Emmy nomination for a story on Alzheimer's Disease.
Ric grew up outside Detroit, Michigan. He received a degree from Central Michigan University. He got his start in broadcasting as a Jungle Cruise Skipper at Disney World, guessing ages, weights and birthdays at an Ohio theme park and giving bus tours of Nantucket Island.
Ric and his wife Meredith have three children, a daughter Taylor, and two sons Owen and Charlie. Ric enjoys spending time with his family, following Detroit sports teams, playing sports and running. He has finished 9 marathons and several half marathons and triathlons. He also gives a lot of his time to several non profit organizations.
